A message from our CEO: AgreenaCarbon’s Verra verification sets the global standard for regenerative agriculture

It’s not every day that you see a company’s milestone become a benchmark for an entire industry. Achieving Verra verification for our AgreenaCarbon Project is one such moment. It’s an undisputed game-changer for soil carbon, and personally, I think it’s amazing. After more than four long years of this journey - hard work, the meticulous verification process, and an unwavering belief in the potential of regenerative agriculture - Verra have given AgreenaCarbon, the largest soil carbon project of its kind in Europe, their definitive stamp of approval, confirming it stands up to the world's most rigorous scrutiny.
While of course I’m delighted that Agreena is the pioneer leading the charge, this achievement isn't just about us. This verification provides a robust springboard for the future of the entire voluntary carbon market. In an era where 'greenwashing' concerns rightly loom large, third-party verification is no longer a 'nice-to-have' but an absolute imperative. For any soil carbon project to achieve Verra verification, let alone one of AgreenaCarbon’s size, signifies a critical shift: moving beyond good intentions to demonstrable, measurable, and verifiable impact. I consider it an ecosystem of integrity – where every credit represents genuine carbon removal or reduction, every farmer's effort is accurately recognised, and every corporate investment yields tangible climate benefits that others should aspire to. While smaller initiatives continue to emerge, our groundbreaking journey underscores that true scale and impact in this space demand the foundational trust that only rigorous verification can provide. The key has been our market-leading digital measurement, reporting and verification technologies, which have successfully demonstrated how scalable programmes, rooted in robust data and verified methodologies, can bridge the gap between climate ambition and on-the-ground impact.

For the voluntary carbon market, a sector that has faced scepticism time and time again, AgreenaCarbon sets a new bar for quality. It signals that high-integrity carbon credits from nature-based solutions, particularly agriculture, are truly viable. This gives buyers the confidence they’ve desperately been waiting for, enabling them to invest in solutions that truly move the needle on climate change, without fear of greenwashing accusations. It moves us away from a volume-at-any-cost approach to one prioritising verifiable impact.
At Agreena, our mantra has always been 'farmers first.' This verification empowers them further. Transitioning to regenerative practices requires courage - faith in the science, trust in Agreena, and perhaps most demanding of all, steeliness against neighbouring cynics in the pub (!) - which rightly warrants a reward at the other end. Alongside the climate benefits of reducing emissions and sequestering carbon in their soil, farmers must be incentivised to see this leap of faith through, with remuneration to cover the initial finance gap. Verra’s verification does just this, unlocking new, reliable revenue streams, de-risking their adoption of sustainable methods, and providing an invaluable bridge between agriculture and the global climate agenda. It is, quite simply, giving farmers the economic incentive and recognition they deserve for being climate stewards.
On a personal level, I’m thrilled that this achievement validates our team's tireless dedication. It reinforces both our position as a leader in regenerative agriculture and the voluntary carbon market, and the world-class expertise of every Agreenian - with their years of innovation, collaboration, and unwavering commitment to our farmers and partners come to fruition. We have built the most incredible team, who make every day a joy to work alongside, and who have become the foundation upon which we will build an even greater impact, driving the transition to a regenerative agricultural future. As a company, our focus now shifts to leveraging this verified framework to accelerate the adoption of regen ag across Europe and beyond. We will continue to innovate, refine our methodologies, and expand our network of farmers with AgreenaGro, in order to scale our impact.

Standing here today, reflecting on what we’ve achieved, I feel immense pride, but more importantly, a renewed sense of purpose. I think this is actually just the beginning. My personal hope is that this achievement inspires a wider embrace of stringent standards across the carbon market, fostering greater transparency and trust. We must collaborate across industries, with policymakers, and with the financial sector to unlock the full potential of agriculture as a climate solution. The urgency of our climate crisis demands nothing less than scalable, verifiable, and equitable solutions. Yes, the path to a truly sustainable future is complex, but moments like this reaffirm that by combining scientific rigour with a 'farmers first' approach, and by prioritising integrity above all else, we can cultivate genuine change. The ground beneath our feet, the soil we work so hard to protect, holds immense power. It is our collective responsibility, and my personal commitment, to ensure that power is harnessed for the benefit of our planet and future generations.
We're standing on the cusp of a huge acceleration of regenerative agriculture in Europe and beyond - stay tuned.
